Shifting Gears

When we last left our heroine wannabe-writer, she was facing a novel 911

After deciding I hated everything about my big work in progress, I realized that probably the feelings were only temporary. I wrote myself a few notes about the current state of the storyline, my intentions going forward, and a bit of encouragement (you can read the details over on Girlyfight if you wish) and then put the piece away. The basic storyline and issues will continue to roll around in my subconscious and eventually (I hope) an answer will present itself one day while I’m scrubbing a frying pan. My notes will allow me to jump right back in when my muse decides to visit.

Until then…

I’m going to pull out my 2007 NaNo. Because one day, while scrubbing a frying pan, I realized how to make it vastly more interesting. Same story, completely different presentation. Thanks, muse! See, she does visit. Just I think we’re going to talk about one story and she decides to talk about something else instead. It’s okay – I can be flexible as long as she keeps visiting!

I haven’t actually pulled out the files yet. I’m still trying to get a handle on this new routine of blogging and freelancing. But I’m working hard to clear tomorrow afternoon to reacquaint myself.

  1. Yeah! That’s really exciting. :)

    • Thanks – I still haven’t managed to get to it (life and its many interruptions) but I’ve been thinking about it a lot and I’m feeling excited so that’s a step in the right direction!
